How to take a residence permit photo with your phone

Start with light and background

Face a large window or use soft, even light from in front. Avoid hard overhead light, a lamp behind you and shadows across the face.

Choose a calm, light background. Leave some room above the head and at the sides so the framing can be adjusted later.

Position the phone and face

Keep the lens at eye level, hold the phone steady and look straight at the camera. Remove dark glasses, skip filters and keep a natural expression with closed lips.

• Ask someone to take the photo or use a tripod.
• Do not use a wide-angle lens from close range.
• Take several shots and choose the sharpest one.

Review before exporting
